Palace want Fonte
Read this in a couple of places, we should bite their hands off. Who knows perhaps we could do a swap for Tomkins!!!

I don't think any of those are terrible players.
We just seem to throw a bunch of players on the pitch without any plan or strategy to play together
So it's every man for himself with no support or coordination.
We have brought in over a dozen players in the last 12 months ... shifted a whole bunch of them back out again ... and still have glaring holes and major weaknesses.
Does anyone think another player , or 2 or 3 will suddenly turn us into a functioning team?

Re: Palace want Fonte
Fonte is shite, as predicted by numerous on here when signed

Formerly effective, but do bare in mind in those memories he was younger, had that Virgil bloke alongside and Wanyama sitting in front of him

Age has caught up and he is seeing out his pension, fair play to him but crass stupidity by the club

Too think that for a far more effectice, taller, younger Tomkins and Payet's sale proceeds we have Fonte, Snodgrass and Ayew on the books for a net spend - 0ny at West Ham chaps

Re: Palace want Fonte
DO all the players we bring in 'turn to shit', or is something else in play here?

Do we have, perhaps, a situation similar to the one under Pards, where the existing squad has 'issues' with new arrivals and their pay packets?

And issues with the likes of Rice being blooded..? Apart from Hart (who probably hasn't been here long enough to pick up on the 'culture'), he didn't get a fat lot of support after 'that goal' the other day (even though embarrasing shit happened in front of him beforehand anyway...).

Something is wrong. Is Slav strong enough? He seems to have gone all soft and mushy since his baby arrived...
He will be the one that goes down the road, but I sense this is about the players more than anything.

We have the tail wagging the dog.

Sounds like Palace are making do with Sakho from Liverpool. Disaster averted.

Tiny bit of truth in that - I think he would look better in a better team with defenders under less constant pressure. Clearly he's better on the ball than our other options. It's just a shame that when he's turned he just crumbles.

I think he's an utterly awful fit for Palace :).

Re: Palace want Fonte
No problem with Fonte.

Its the tactics employed by Bilic that is the problem.

If Fonte's that bad why is he wanted by another club

How much do they want us to pay them?

Re: Palace want Fonte
Surely, in an ideal world Snodgrass will have a fantastic season for Villa and we will be left with the enviable decision of bringing him back into the squad or selling him for a lot more than we could have got this year.

Re: Palace want Fonte
Maybe the lackluster training & general laidback approach at the club means he is even less inclined to train hard & give it his all in the last 2 years of his career - and woth so much cash in his pocket!
Be interesting to see how Snodgrass & others we sell get on away from the club cos at the moment any player we bring in turns to shit! (Generally as we by past it players, rejects or those on a downward spiral!!)

Re: Palace want Fonte
Palace will probably take Big Sam back then we can worry, whatever is wrong there you can guarantee they will have a better defence than us and he has a decent record of keeping teams up.

Not suggesting for one moment I would want him back but I don't think Palace being relegated alongside us is likely the way things are going.

Re: Palace want Fonte
First Snodgrass, now perhaps Fonte. Hot on the heels of the big summer clear-out of all the garbage he brought in last year, how long before Zabaletta gets eased out?

Re: Palace want Fonte
tomkins would never come back while Bilic is still in charge.

Re: Palace want Fonte
Yeah, sell him and then we'll take Burke back in January.

Bet you all of a sudden he's a decent defender again as soon as Palace buy him.

Re: Palace want Fonte
he'll go there, they'll get a proper manager once FDB is gone and he'll become a solid centre back again.
